Ran across a brilliant blog post from a pastor in Portland, Oregon, talking about why he is thankful for Obama. He understands 1) that Jesus is Lord, 2) that Obama is not the Messiah, and 3) Obama is not the anti-christ either… he's just the next President of the United States of America. Here's a quote:
Listen, conservatives: The sky is not falling. It's not a sign of the end times. Jesus is still bringing all of this someplace very good.
And if He could even use someone like Nebuchadnezzar… couldn't He use
someone like Barack Obama.. and wouldn't it behoove us to pray that
way?

Read the whole post, breathe a sigh of relief, relax, and pray for Obama. It really is going to be okay.
You’re right, brilliant post. Thanks so much for the link. If I can figure out how, I’ll send it to my many ultra-conservative friends.
Wow. Thanks for sharing this, Ben.
One thing I was struck by is how the rest of the world reacted with jubilation. It feels good to see the greatness of America celebrated in the streets of Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Desmond Tutu wrote a great piece about what Obama’s election means to the rest of the world in the Washington Post.

Thanks for the link, Wes – it was a great article that helps to give some perspective on how Christians in other parts of the world are viewing the election of Obama.
Intersting post…thanks for sharing.
It is intersting to see the variety of ways that people have responded to this election.
People I work with are absolutely horrified, and sincerely frightened. I have to spend time saying just as you did above. Tulsa, OK
