Jesus said:
Whoever feeds upon my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me and I in them. Just as the living Father sends me forth and I live through the Father, whoever also feeds upon me, that very one will live through me.
John 6:56-57
Following Jesus (and thus Christianity) is meant to be far more that just a set of “beliefs.” It is even more than a “way” of life. Christianity is a life. A new kind of life. A source of life.
Jesus is not merely sent by the Father, he lives through the Father. The Father’s life flows through Jesus, animating him, energizing him. Jesus draws life from the Father as we draw life from the food we eat.
And we are not merely sent by Jesus, but we live through Jesus. We abide in him, and he abides in us. His life flows through us, animating us, energizing us. We draw life from our connection to Jesus, eating his flesh and drinking his blood in the Eucharist, learning to rely on the power that flows to us from him and his union with the Father.
We are in him, and he is in us, and he is in the Father, receiving and allowing life to flow into and through us, forever. This is eternal life.
