From a grumpy old man posting on iMonk's site:
"When I was your age I could prepare a sermon on horseback riding in a
thunderstorm while being shot at by angry Methodists. But these sissies
now have to be the 'preaching pastor' because doing anything else is
toooooooo hard. Well whoop tee do."

I found this funny and a little too true. But then I usually appreciate the speeches of grumpy old men. Although I have never been shot at by an angry Methodist.
haha. funny story which probably strikes at a deep chord in our churches.
While I see it is important for pastors to play to their strengths and calling, part of what God calls all of us to do is to care for those in our communities that are hurting (what many would deem pastoral care).
“Teaching Pastors” seem to be a move by pastors to get away with being consumed with doing things outside of their calling, but the error would be that some “teaching pastors” totally remove themselves from pastoral care situations.
Pastoral care ought to be administered by all in the body – including (but not limited to) the pastor.
If you keep encouraging people to bring bb guns to church, that could change.
Ha! That could be true Lori. Scary thought.
