A letter to the editor, found in an Australian newspaper (The Border Mail – Albury, Wodonga VIC regional edition, October 1, 2008, page 18):
He seems to think, like Joshua making the sun stand still in the sky, that Daylight Savings Time actually adds sunlight to the day. The way I explain it to my kids is that basically the whole world decides to get up an hour earlier for half the year.
Maybe he’s onto a solution to global warming … if we all get up an hour later all year round, there will be that much less sunlight. Or do we have to get up earlier — not sure I like that approach!
