I just spent 8 minutes and 33 seconds watching this video of Kseneiya Skimonova, a profoundly gifted Ukrainian artist who just won a “Ukraine’s Got Talent”-type show, creating a fascinating work of art.
She uses a giant light box, a bunch of sand, and music to depict Germany’s occupation of Ukraine during World War II. It’s well worth your time. I was mesmerized by it and the effect it had on many in the audience who were obviously very deeply touched by it. Sometimes artists are the only ones who can say it “right.”
