I heard that Sigur Rós was coming out with a new album, so I went to their site and they have this little video on the front page that I found moving, for some reason. I’ve always appreciated their ability to create beautiful soundscapes, and I’m sure the new album will increase my appreciation. I just thought I’d share the video:
The video below, created by Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto, is like a museum installation that maps the history and locations of nuclear detonations from 1945-1998. Watching it is a lesson in societal insanity. The world has spent billions of dollars and detonated over 2,000 bombs (2,053!! How many tests do we need?!?), while 1 billion of its people still live in extreme poverty.
