My friend Brad has a funny post up detailing The Seven Layers of Jack Bauer. It’s a bit of the psychology that goes into how the show portrays Jack. He has obviously thought WAY too hard about this, but it makes for some hilarious, and strangely thought-provoking reading. Enjoy.
Isn’t this picture funny, too? It’s Kiefer looking like a mean, smug Jack Bauer, but he’s wearing a water polo jacket. Water polo? I guess when you’re Jack Bauer, you define tough and cool, so if you’re wearing a water polo jacket, water polo is tough and cool. Got it.

It depends on what the “rules” are, I suppose. I think part of the fascination with the show is how many times people end up feeling like they have to bend or break a rule in order to do what is right. But then it ends up being ambiguous as well: you end up wondering what really was the right thing to do…
