Hi! I’m Ben
I’m an Episcopal priest, spiritual director, and author living in Indianapolis. I’ve been writing since 2005 on faith, church, and culture, because writing helps me process and integrate what I’m learning. I use this space to jot ideas and riffs and thoughts that might turn into something else later, or not.
These days I spend most of my time with two communities:
- The Table – an Episcopal church in Indianapolis I planted and co-pastor.
- Gravity Commons – an organization I co-founded and co-lead that helps people develop a post-deconstruction Christian spirituality rooted in love that fosters resilient faith in everyday life.
More About Me
My wife Deb and I live in Indianapolis, where I planted and co-pastor a church. We’ve got four kids (two in college, two out in the wild), and a little dog named Edith.
My journey in leadership and connecting with transcendence began in high school when I started a punk rock band with my little brother. I learned a lot about leadership, creativity, marketing, and connecting people with transcendence in those days (and had loads of fun).
Since then, I have been in Christian ministry of some kind or another for over 30 years. I have been a worship leader, pastor, church planter, web designer, business owner, content developer, teacher, trainer, leadership coach, Episcopal priest, and spiritual director.
