3 Questions About Jesus

What a great premise:

You’ve just met a young American adult who is utterly irreligious. Having been raised by agnostic parents, their family never attended any kind of religious gathering, and – although they understand what “religion” is and have been exposed to different religious practitioners – they don’t really know anything about Jesus Christ or Christianity. But they’re curious, so – knowing you have something to do with Christianity – they ask you three simple questions:

Who is Jesus Christ?
What has he done?
Why does it matter?

Please provide your simple, sincere, and conversational response in 300 words or less.

This was from an email I got from Jason Coker, who is curating a once-a-week series on his blog called 3 Questions About Jesus. I was really looking forward to participating in this project.

Today my entry in the series went up on Jason’s blog. Leave a comment over there if you want to interact about my entry. And thanks to Jason for putting this series together.

hey ben. me and a buddy took to the streets of nashville a couple of years ago with a similar unobtrusive and question, with no hidden agenda, and a video camera…we simply had people read out loud the following question and then give their response to: “Who do you say Jesus is?”

if interested, you can actually still view the video on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdxqa3LVNz4

love the “why does it matter?” follow-up though. that would be interesting to hear people’s responses for sure.

anyways, heading over to jason’s now to see what’s developing…

thanks!
