What you shared makes me think of what Heidi Baker talked about in relation to "having compassion on the next one." I think of it as being absolutely present in the moment. We do tend to to be looking ahead or around a lot, and it's tough to focus on what or whom is right in front of us. When we get in God's pace, it is wonderful how we can be absolutely engaged in the present moment, and that's when we really begin to see people more, and hear them. I like how it says God is "an ever-present help in time of need." It literally means He is exceedingly present. He is 100%, absolutely, totally attentive to what is happening at this exact moment.
